In this one-hour workshop learn how thinking about your own teaching can make you a more effective tutor. This workshop empowers educators to think more deeply about their teaching philosophy and practice, leading to teaching excellence. Engage in reflective exercises, share experiences, and develop strategies that align your beliefs with your everyday teaching approach.
In this workshop, we will put into practice the following ACE Teaching Standards indicators:
2.1 Initiate and take advantage of opportunities to advance personal professional knowledge and skills to benefit learners.
2.2 Analyse learner information to reflect on, evaluate and improve the effectiveness of teaching.
2.3 Examine own beliefs and the impact on practice and the achievement of learners.
Facilitator - Jennifer Leahy (Christchurch)
Jennifer has extensive experience and skills in the research and facilitation of training and education programmes at the University of Canterbury, Ara Institute of Canterbury, the Department of Corrections, and a range of community education programmes.
She is the Southern Sector Services Manager for Ako Aotearoa and coordinates professional development for the South Island’s tertiary sector teachers, trainers, and educators. She also works for Adult and Community Education (ACE) Aotearoa advising community education providers on the ACE Teaching Standards.
